MoCS should be self-conscious – Awang Tengah
KUCHING, July 13 (Bernama) – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior Vice President Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan wants the Movement For Change Sarawak (MoCS) to be conscious of itself when proposing an assembly to force Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to resign.
Awang Tengah who is the state Minister of Public Utilities said the people in the state have given the mandate to Barisan Nasional (BN) and Taib to form the state government through a process of democracy in the last state election.
He said Sarawak BN has won 55 of the 71 seats in the state election on April 16 and it proved the people have made their choice.
“As such MoCS should be conscious of its own position. What mandate do they have? MoCS is a movement which is not registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
“The people have made their choice and the decision is well known and MoCS should be aware of this,” he told reporters after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Sarawak Energy Berhad and Proactive Training Centre here Wednesday.
He was asked to elaborate on the statement of the head of MoCS, Francis Paul Siah in his blog today that MoCS wants to organise “A Walk for Democracy and Reforms in Sarawak” in Kuching on August 13.
In May, MoCS had threatened to hold a big scale demonstration to force Taib to resign before Aug 13 by moving the people’s power.
Following the call, several police reports were made in Kuching, Kota Samarahan and Bintulu against MoCS. - Bernama
