The Government will not allow any motion from the Opposition

The Government will not allow any motion from the Opposition

Written by Ari Ujan Belama (AUB)

This is AUB response to another article that reported “DUN motion on land issue- terminated by Speaker”

“This article is outstanding in that it helps us understand the how DUN works from the eyes of AUB. The implication of AUB confirmation that Dayak NCR land are recognized by government means Dayak with land that are being infringed on by Provisional lease should take matters to court immediately. Also, AUB argued that people who are successful do not need a government. How true is this statement? (Dr. John Brian Anthony)

Dayak NCR Land

Well the Dayak only have NCR land and it is being recognised by the State government and also by the Federal Court. If you don’t believe look at the case of Nyawai and other Vs Borneo Pulp and papers and the givernment of Sarawak.

Opposition do not have the numbers

Even if Wong motion is accepted by the Speaker, it will not become a bill because they don’t have the numbers. They are only FIVE of them, how can the bill be approved.

Wong, to be want to be a hero to the Chinese community. It was actually the Chinese communities that he is trying to fight for for all we know, it is the Chinese population that own most mixed zone land and also title land in Sarawak.

Dayak land is worthless!

What the Dayak owned probably the native area land which is only fit for agriculture and also the untitled NCR land.

Opposition motion is not allow – government will used any mean to kill it

My argument is simple, the government will not allow any motion from the opposition to be tabled in the august house. Never in the history of Malaysian Parliamentary democracy has Parliament or DUN allow motions by the opposition to be discussed.

Successful Dayak people do not need the government

Well, Dr. John may be right, but as a Dayak, who are diverse, and who are still in the backwaters of Sarawak, we still need the government.

Dr. John does not need them because he is already very successful, drives a E320 mercedes benz and owns a beautiful house in KL. While we are still poor.

MCA wants to be Deputy Prime Minister

'Make MCA chief deputy prime minister'
Oct 20, 08 9:32am
‘I am sure that move will create a tremendous swing of support from all the non-Malays in the country. That move will definitely cast the opposition into irrelevance.'
(Sumber malaysiakini 20/10/2008)

What a big surprise in Malaysian Politic today. Everyone is free to voice, to make suggestions and even to threathen the present BN Government. Do they (MCA) realise such statements and demands hurt the feeling of other BN component parties. What about Sarawak and Sabah, who made a 100% winners during PRU 12,. Don't they deserved to be Deputy Prime Minister.
Come on MCA, don't be to greedy. I suggest you better win back all the lost seats during the last PRU-12 .
I should say Sarawak is suitable to be Deputy prime Minister. Any comments, please share !.

Many Dayak are still without Birth Certiicate

Many Dayak are still without Birth Certificate

Are you surprise?

Many Dayak both in the rural area and urban areas are without birth certificate. This feedback is gathered from certain department authorities in Sarawak. After 45 years of independence, why are many Dayak still without Birth Certificate?

I know many Ybs and community leaders has signed special form to comfirm that the applicants are really Dayak born and bred in Sarawak. Their only sin if you really want to call it a sin is their parent are so ignorant and mostly poor that they cannot meet the Department of National Registration to make a report on the birth of their child. The cost of transport going to town is very expansive and the parents are not able to make it to town to register their child’s birth to the relevant government office.

To be poor

What it means is the parent do not have the money to come down to town and register the birth of their child. The parents are also without document from Maternity Clinics and hospital as they cannot afford such luxury and there are many Dayak who still give birth in farm houses and long houses without any government services available to them.

Should the government punish such poor and ignorant people. I understand that ignorance of the law is no excuse for action not to be taken against them. This is where discretionary practices must be exercise by the responsible person. But what happen if the person in charge of the National Registration is a West malaysian Malay, maybe born with silver spoon or just another West Malaysian who has no perception of what is going on in rural Sarawak? The applicant will suffer because strict rules will be imposed upon them.

After 45 years of independence why is it that the government is not interested to solve this no birth certificate and identity card problems among Dayak. Maybe the Taib BN/UMNO led government fear that the Dayak numbers would increase substantially and that they will lead then Sarawak government sooner than later. Without identity card the Dayak voters would not grow in numbers.

This is a big danger for Dayak as the selected few will feast on their land and thus would restrict Dayak material progress in future.

Government Initiative

We heard the National Registration conduct rural exercise to allow for the rural poor folk to apply for their birth certificate. To my mind, such programe should be continuous and not ad hoc with restricted time. This birth certificate is very important to ensure that the child would live a full Malayisan citizen life and enjoy the individual rights in Malaysia.

Many cannot obtain international passport and even during tender age these children that are without a birth certificate is deprived of government assistance particularly in education.

Kumpulan Wang Amanah Untuk Pelajar Miskin (KWAMP)

Many Dayak teachers has expressed their disappointment with their elected representative to resolve the issue of Dayak student without birth certificate. Without this document the government KWAMP cannot give these student who are without birth certificate any assistance. These students are already poor and the arrogant approach of implementors are not helping the poor student at all in the needs for support to get their education.

A few teachers has touched this subject in their discussion and that they found that urban parent who are driving BMW and Volvo, Camry and Honda Accord are given help under KWAMP because their child has birth certificate and also they have submitted their income statement to the school.

How could a poor unemployed Dayak meet such “income statement” requirement before their application for assistance could be approved? Why are the Dayak problem being accelerated to a new level by such requirement and if they do not meet the requirement there will not receive government aid. This is all too much red tape and some government officers used this opportunity to suppress Dayak progress in education.

Welfare Assistance for the old folk

The same is happening to those poor old Dayak folks who are still not given assistance despite having ask for it repeated from the Welfare department? The government officers in-charge of these department need to be able to make a responsible judgment from their field experience and approve deserving application. Why does all this process and requirement for application for birth certificate and welfare assistance not made more open and customer friendly?

Conclusion

If you have one race as a majority in any government department, the tendencies for racialism, nepotism, unfairness and a distorted thought will caused biasness. This has greatly push the Dayak educational and welfare progress backward.

We Dayak must not accept these short-coming of the government without serious effort to correct the wrong. It seems that the Federal Government is not interested to solve this problem in sabah and Sarawak. We Dayak should push the BN government to address all these problems urgently and also send the message that BN under Taib Mahmud to be more responsible to the people need than lining his pocket with money.

For being without a Birth Certificate the child must not be punished by denying their right to receive assistance from KWAMP. If this punishment is carried out, more and more Dayak will not receive reasonable education. No education mean without many choices in life and may get in the way of the Dayak child personal ambitions. Then Dayak progress will be retarded.

Will there be a State Level Gawai Dayak in 2009?

Will there be a State Level Gawai Dayak in 2009?

Posted by Dr. John Brian Anthony

No more State Level Gawai sponsored by Government

The last Gawai Dayak sponsored and organized by the State Government of Sarawak was 2008 Gawai at the State Stadium. The government took over the organisation of Gawai Dayak in mid 1980’s. Previously the three Dayak organization: SDNU, DBNA and OUNA took turn to Chair the State level Gawai Celebration. Now the State government has announced that they are not going to organise any more State level Gawai due to budget constraint. Does that mean the government expect that there is not going to be a State level Gawai in 2009?

Temenggong Kaum Penan Turut Menyangkal Kenyataan Media

Laporan berhubung masyarakat Penan yang dianiayai baru-baru ini dan disangkal oleh Ketua Menteri Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, turut dinafikan oleh Temenggong Penan Dato Sri Nyipa Bato. " Saya ( Dato Sri Nyipa) menyokong penuh kenyataan Ketua Menteri.
( Utusan Borneo: 10/10/2008)

Renungan : Bolehkah kita terima kenyataan Temenggong Dato Sri Nyipa Bato ini bahawa kawasan dibawah seliaannya bebas dari sebarang aduan atau penganiayaan . Maafkan saya, adakah kejadian kes rogol ini bawah seliaan Temenggong. Baguslah kalau tiada .

Polis Siasat Perempuan Penan Di Rogol

Ketua Polis Negeri Sarawak, Datuk Mohd.

JANGAN PERMAIN ISU TANAH

Tiada Tanah Rakyat DIRAMPAS !!!!!!!!!!!

Sabar Tunggu Perlaksanaan Pembangunan

Tiada Hormat Langsung " Hindraf "

Wahai, Hindraf, I am sure ISA should be remained there in Malaysia just for you.

HAK ADAT BUMIPUTERA (NCR)

Land policy encourages devt of agro lands By Puvaneswary Devindran
KUCHING: Sarawak’s land policy has been drawn up in such a way as to encourage owners to develop their agriculture lands in sub-urban and urban areas.
Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Dato Sri Awang Tengah Ali Hassan told reporters this after handing out land titles to 305 villagers from Kampung Tanjong Poting and Kampung Tanjong Senibong at Singgai in Bau yesterday.
He said agriculture lands located in sub-urban and urban area could fetch a high price if developed.
“If they (land owners) proceed to develop these lands, it (land value) would outweigh the premium to be paid. That is basically why we have this sort of policy,” he added.
He was commenting on reports of land owners in Sibu being unhappy over the rates charged. The matter, highlighted by Sibu branch chairman of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh showed that some owners had been assessed at rates from RM30,000 to RM90,000 per acre for lands in sub-urban areas.
Wong said this contravened the land policy, and that the reason given by the Land and Survey Department was that the lands were not fully utilised for agriculture or were used for residential purposes.
Under the policy, the land premium was only RM200 per acre for agriculture or country land. For agriculture lands within the sub-urban area, the owners would have to pay 25 per cent of the land value or the maximum of RM5,000 per acre, whichever is less.
If the lands were within the town district, the owners need to fork out 25 per cent of the value or the maximum of RM10,000 per acre.
“Here there are a lot of grey areas. It should, for example, define the extent the land should be used whether intensively, sporadically or minimally. We have been approached and have helped many landowners in Limbang, Bintulu and Lawas. But it is impossible for every individual to come and see us. That is why we have reactivated the committee,” he said in reference to SUPP’s land committee.
Meanwhile Tengah said he would have to find out what was going on in Sibu but that normally for undeveloped land, the premium would be based on 25 per cent of the market value of the land; but if fully developed, it’s a flat rate of RM5,000 per acre for lands in the sub-urban areas and RM10,000 per acre for lands in the urban area.
When asked if the land policy would go through another review if more people were unhappy over it, he replied: “We had just reviewed it but nothing is static in this world.”
He said the most important thing was that the people be thoroughly informed about the policy, and taught how to calculate the premium based on the formula to avoid misunderstanding.
Earlier in his speech, Tengah said concerted effort was required to facilitate survey work on all traditional lands in Sarawak, so the people could get their deeds faster.
He said that it was an ongoing work for the Land and Survey Department to get the deeds for the people for free, even when it had to spent on average RM60,000 monthly for the work to be done in an area.
“The title you get is a perpetuity one and it is free from survey fees or tax. But even so, your lands carry value because they are located in an area accessible to and near development. So do not think that just because you got it for free, your land is of no value,” he added.
Tengah reminded that the land would not have value only if there was no development nearby. As such, he called on the people to support the government of the day as it brought development to the nation.
He said Barisan Nasional was able to bring development to the people because it worked on ensuring stability in the country. Tengah praised Tasik Biru assemblyman Peter Nansian Ngusie for being proactive, which enabled people in his area to receive over 3,000 land titles.
He said there were over 1,000 more land titles to be given out to five more villages in the area; and assured that the Land and Survey Department would continue to work on this, provided the people cooperated with the department.Yesterday’s event saw 117 villagers in Kampung Tanjong Poting receive a total of 159 land titles while 188 from Kampung Tanjong Senibong received 228 land titles.
Nansian, Sarawak Land and Survey Department Kuching Controller Abdullah Julaihi and organising chairman Loren Sikui also spoke at the event.

Kawan Jadi Lawan

MP Bintulu say STEP DOWN & Union say UNFAIR

Sarawak Headmasters' Council and Sarawak Teachers' Association Union Council condemn the " quit call" by MP YB Seri Tiong King Sing against Sarawak State Education Director .
Of course these 2 unions belong to teaching profession group. Remember that Boss is always right. Yes , finger pointing as this time is no longer effective as YB time bomb already " exploded " . It is never to late to reconciles and YB Dato has done a lot toward improving good education in Sarawak. Just a reminder to all" Please don't sweep the dust under the carpet, o.k. "
I Salute YB, because you have bravely fought against gangterism and this time it is only " kacang putih issue". Keep it up YB .

Akta Hubungan Kaum - Sarawak & Sabah

Barisan Nasional Kekal Unggul - Parti Pakatan ?????
